The A.W. Jenkinson Group was established in Cumbria in the mid-1960s by Allan Jenkinson, who transported surplus sawdust and wood shavings from local sawmills to farms to be used for livestock and pet bedding. As demand grew beyond the supply of locally available sawdust, A.W. Jenkinson Forest Products expanded by forming partnerships further afield.
Today, the A.W. Jenkinson Group comprises a range of specialist businesses serving the needs of customers across the UK and northern Europe. Each business has its own specialist expertise while benefiting from the strength of the wider group. They range from A.W. Jenkinson Forest Products to the haulage and logistics business A.W. Jenkinson Transport, bovine genetics and breeding specialists A.W. Jenkinson Farms and even Penrith Truckstop. A.W. Jenkinson Woodwaste is one of several specialist businesses within the wider group.
As the trade association for the waste wood recycling sector the Wood Recyclers Association works on behalf of its members such as A.W. Jenkinson Woodwaste to represent their needs at the highest level within Government and provide advice and support on issues affecting them. The WRA also provides a networking platform for recyclers, reprocessors and suppliers to the industry so they can meet and share experiences, ideas and make new contacts.
